About Yoga Travel

Each Yoga Travel yoga holiday is accompanied by two staff: a yoga teacher and a tour leader. Our teachers offer yoga fundamentals such as flexibility, strength, tranquillity, self-understanding, breath work and meditation. Meanwhile our tour leaders manage logistics and safe handling - they are all seasoned world travellers with extensive experience operating in foreign locales. Here's some of the people you'll meet out and about with Yoga Travel:

Yoga Travel founder:
Will Cottrell

Specialising in the Middle East, for many years Will worked as a freelance adventure tour leader before founding Yoga Travel. An experienced tour leader, he's organised excursions to Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and Morocco. Yoga Travel was born out of Will's 10-year yoga practice; he lives and works in Dahab, Egypt.
 

In the office:
Val Cottrell & Tony Bedden

Based in Cornwall, England, the Yoga Travel office is the nexus of our operation. Both Val and Tony have in-depth experience of all our yoga holidays (as well as the two characters on either side) and stand ready if you've any questions on itineraries, flights, availability - or if you just fancy a chat!

 

Tour Leader:
Ben Cottrell

After extensive travel around the world, Ben now lives in Thailand where he works as a tour leader, dive instructor and entrepreneur. From his base on the island of Koh Lanta Ben organises trips to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and Malaysia; as well as speaking fluent Thai he's an expert on Thai cuisine and the customs and culture of the Thai people.

Tour Leader:
Sacha Taylor-Cox

Sacha Taylor-Cox began tour leading 16 years ago in Italy. For the last 9 years she has run yoga holidays around the world, interspersed with a celebrity PR career. Sacha now lectures in the UK and joins Yoga Travel as a tour leader during college holiday time. Along with being a keen horse rider she's also a Reiki therapist and NLP counseller.

 

Yoga Teacher
Monica Farrell

Monica has practiced various styles of yoga for more than 20 years. She studied yoga and meditation with guruji Mohan in india and obtained her Sivananda yoga teaching certificate there in 2002. She's also a former lecturer in English Literature at the American University in Cairo and a PADI dive instructor since 1998. Monica teaches our yoga holidays in Egypt.
 

Yoga Teacher:
Mona Haymaker

Mona began her yoga career in Los Angeles where she studied with renowned teachers Bryan Kest and Ana Forrest. She teacher a Vinyasa style (also called flow yoga), instructing on the technical aspects of physical alignment and offering modifications and variation for each pose. Her classes create a gentle, rhythmic flow through the body, designed to match movement with breath. Mona teaches on our holidays in Thailand.

Yoga Teacher:
Karin Croney

Karin lives and teaches yoga in Essaouira, Morrocco. She's been practicing for over 10 years, with in-depth experience of a range of styles from the dynamic to the more gentle and restorative. She holds both the Sivananda Teacher Training and Advanced Teacher Training Certificates - her classes are an eclectic mix of asana, pranayama and meditation based on her belief that yoga offers the power to embrace life's challenges with both equanimity  and grace.
 

Tour Leader:
Mady MacDonald

An inveterate traveller, Mady has worked worldwide including Austria, Honduras, Thailand and Nepal. As well as a moutain guide, travel writer and scuba diving instructor she also teaches horse riding. She is a first aid instructor and holds a Wilderness First Aid certificate. Mady is Canadian and has lived in her home town of Dahab, Egypt for five years.

 

Yoga Teacher:
Charlie Boardley

Charlie has practised yoga for 10 years and regularly trains with some of the world's senior teachers. Her classes are traditional Hatha Yoga (inspired mainly by Sivananda) and include postures, relaxation, and breathing techniques bringing awareness into the mind, energy into the body as well as core stability. She likes yoga to be fun, sharing what she knows of this ancient philosophy in a down to earth and practical way. She always encourages people to work within their own limits and at the same time to challenge themselves.

Yoga Teacher:
Ali Gilling

Ali is a qualified Sivananda teacher and has been teaching for 11 years. Exploring different styles of yoga and studying with many inspiring teachers, her teaching is likened to a dynamic flow, gentle and also fierce, focussing on breath and relaxation. She has taught in the UK, Egypt, India and Morocco.

 

Yoga Teacher:
Kerry Bingham

Kerry studied Hatha yoga extensively in both India and Turkey. She is a qualified Sivananda yoga teacher, visiting India each year to further her training, and uses a synthesis of energy awareness, breathwork and traditional Sivananda in her classes. She organises regular yoga holidays throughout Turkey and speaks English, Turkish, French and German.

 

Massage Therapist:
Mike Farai

With a repertoire of soothing oils, effective techniques and varied pressures, Mike offers a complete holistic massage experience. Working on our holidays in Dahab, after a typical treatment you can expect to emerge de-stressed and re-charged. A widely travelled masseur, Mike's experience includes The Big Chill, Neals Yard, The Treatment Rooms, Bestival and the The Electric Picnic.
